Japanese girl group Tokyo Girls' Style (東京女子流, Tōkyō Joshi Ryū) (stylized as TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE) was formed in 2009 as the first idol group steered by Japanese entertainment giant Avex Trax following the demise of SweetS. Originally comprising five members, Miyu Yamabe, Hitomi Arai, Yuri Nakae, Konishi Ayano and Mei Shyoj – with Konishi Ayano later retiring in 2015 – the group's early music fed the prevailing appetite for candy-coated idol group fare, and they sailed through the charts, with their debut single of 2010, "Kirari" (キラリ☆, lit.
