Too $hort (born Todd Anthony Shaw on April 28, 1966) helped define west coast
rap, signing with Jive and releasing his major label debut, Born to Mack, in
1987. The follow-up, 1988’s Life Is…Too Short, cracked the top 10 on the R&B
chart and the top 40 on the main album chart. 1990’s Short’s Dog In The House
featured two top 20 rap hits, “The Ghetto” and Short But Funky”. Throughout the
1990s, his albums topped the rap chart and reached the top 5 of the main album
