Shari Watson, aka Truth Hurts, hails from Saint Louis, Missouri. Initially a songwriter for artists such as Shanice, Truth Hurts was produced by Dr. Dre for the album Truthfully Speaking, which reached #5 on the charts in 2002. The single "Addictive " reached No. 9 and No. 2 on the R&B chart. Unfortunately, the track contained an unauthorized sample of "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai" by Indian artist Lata Mangeshkar. The ensuing court case put the brakes on Truth Hurts' career. Her second album, Ready Now, released in 2004 on Raphael Saadiq's label, was a flop.
