Väsen
Väsen is a Swedish traditional folk band, active since 1989. Hailing from
Uppsala, it features musicians Olov Johansson on nyckelharpa (cousin of the
hurdy-gurdy) and Mickael Marin on viola. A duo since 2020 after the inclusion of
other members, the group has recorded some twenty albums, including Essence
(1994), Gront (1999), Trio (2003), Keyed Up (2004), Väsen Street (2009), Brewed
(2017), Duo (2021) and Melliken (2023), before collaborating in 2024 with
American bluegrass band Hawktail for the album Väsen & Hawktail, which reached
the top 10 of the American bluegrass charts.
