Victoria Monét – born Victoria Monét McCants in Atlanta, Georgia on May 1, 1993
– is an R&B and pop singer and songwriter. Her family relocated to Sacramento,
California, where she became involved in the performing arts including singing
and dancing. She sang in a local church’s youth choir before discovering that
she had a gift for songwriting. She began to study production and recording at a
local studio. She then connected with producer Rodney Jerkins via social media,
who invited her to Los Angeles to audition for his new girl group Purple Reign.
