Katie Crutchfield, better known as the leader of the indie-folk project
Waxahatchee, was born on January 4, 1989, in Birmingham, Alabama. After
launching her music career as a member of the punky, teenaged band P.S. Eliot,
Crutchfield released her solo record under the Waxahatchee moniker, American
Weekend, in 2011. Her heartfelt lyrics and folk-inspired melodies earned a loyal
cult following. On her second album, 2013's Cerulean Salt, she expanded
Waxahatchee was a full-band project for the first time.
