Wolfsheim are a synth duo from Germany, named after a character from F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel 'The Great Gatsby'. They have retained their distinctive electronic sound since the 1980s. They formed in 1987 and originally consisted of brothers Markus and Olli Reinhardt and vocalist Pompejo Ricciardi. After their first demo Ricciardi was replaced by vocalist Peter Heppner. After Reinhardt also left, the band carried on as a duo. In 1991 Wolfsheim released their debut single 'The Sparrows and the Nightingales'.
