Born Kim Jong-woon on August 24, 1984, in Seoul, South Korea, singer-songwriter
and actor Yesung spent most of his childhood in the city of Chenan, South
Chungcheong. From a very young age, he demonstrated a natural aptitude for
singing and participated in several talent shows, winning the gold medal at a
local competition in 1999. A few years later, he became a trainee for SM
Entertainment, making his official debut on Super Junior 05's 2005 single "Twins
