Zimbo Trio
Formed in 1964 in São Paulo, Brazil, jazz and samba group the Zimbo Trio was
founded by pianist Amilton Godoy, bassist Luís Chaves, and drummer Rubinho
Barsotti. This instrumental group came from humble beginnings yet became one of
the most influential Brazilian groups of their generation. Their first
performance – featuring vocalist Norma Bengell - took place at the Boate Oásis
in Minas Gerais, Brazil. They released their self-titled debut album later that
year, followed by the album Zimbo Trio, Vol. 2 in 1965. The trio became the
