I've been here patiently waiting
Watching all the videotapes
I'm happy to report I can finally think straight
I begin to mimic Blue Red and Green
I've been trying to remake those memories again
I need you to play your part
But you're a no show on opening night
I'm a bruised shade of blue from holding my breath
I lost sight of the surface as I waited in the water below the bridge
I was brazen bulled and cooked crimson red
But it's what's inside that counts they said
Where have you been my whole life
I thought I found a red bird
Now they're nowhere in sight
I told everyone I was flying towards the sun
I sold tickets to the show
I was Green with envy in the secret garden
I'm buried below ground in a coffin of stone
And my oxygen intake is getting low
I'll draw the line once I've seen you've lied
All that I've ever wanted has been axed and denied
Have you ever caught a red bird
Have you ever plucked its feathers
Now that the weight is mine
I hid in the oceans and all I could see was my own reflection waiting for me
I slept through the fire and burned my tongue
My ashes were spread in the wrong spots
Lately I've thrived face first in the dirt
When my heads in the clouds I only get hurt
I'll take those videotapes and use magnet to it to erase everything
No memories of how you used to treat me
A brand new slate for someone else to break
Have you ever caught a redbird midflight
I've been waiting my whole life
(Have you seen me? I've been waiting)
It's about time I get what I've never wanted
But always getting what I think I deserve
