German countertenor Andreas Scholl made his debut in 1994 in Le Messie conducted
by William Christie, and exploded in 1998 at the Glyndebourne Festival in
Handel's Rodelinda . Since then, René Jacobs's pupil has toured the world's
stages with great success, appearing on the best-selling lists of Baroque music
recordings. He has sung Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in 1999 and La Passion Selon
Saint Jean with Philippe Herreweghe in 2001, as well as more commercial
recordings such as Andreas Scholl Goes Pop in 2007.
