Ray Wylie Hubbard is an American country music star who achieved legendary
status in Texas for his smart, unsentimental songs and boisterous performances
and recordings over several decades. Born in Oklahoma, he grew up in Dallas,
learned to play the guitar and kicked off his career as a folk singer in the
1960s before turning to a more honky-tonk sound. He made his recording debut in
1975 with 'Ray Wylie Hubbard & the Cowboy Twinkies' followed in 1978 by 'Off the
